The world of the ATM
The television show Firma Mooibedacht provides a behind-the-scenes look at the cash and valuables transport company G4S. A global view, that's true, so as not to make criminals any wiser than they already are.
Inventors of security concepts
As a master in engineered security, Van den Hoogen Security was involved from the start in the security concept for the distribution centres of G4S (Group 4 Securicor, previously Geldnet). Within this concept, we were responsible for deterring criminals. In industry terms: for implementing the desired engineered delay time. This goes further than just installing break-in alarms and camera systems. These systems signal, but they do not deter criminals. After signalling, the main objective is to keep the crooks away from the loot until qualified follow-up (a police arrest team) arrives at the location.
Examples of engineered security measures that delay
- Heavy vault spaces
- Vault doors
- Access control systems
- Locking systems
- Security rooms for electronic equipment
- Special guard rooms
- Reinforced windows in the facade
- Security glazing
- Reinforced walls, roofs and floors
- Gate locks in the reinforced walls
- Roadblocks or road barriers to deter an attack with heavy equipment (backhoe)
- Concrete sheet piling
- Engineered facilities in conduit ductwork
- Engineered facilities in openings and transits
- Anti-tank moats
- Single-person pass-through (locks)
- Fencing
